Unique Scottish Agate: “The Tangerine”
This Scottish agate for sale has been nicknamed “the Tangerine” because the crystal pockets on either side resemble the segments of an orange.
Cast in a deep red that is either Jasp-agate, or carnelian (Scottish carnelian is rare), the outer fortification on this agate is pretty special. In the light, you can see four or five lines of fortified bands. In the crystal pockets, you can see real depth to it.
Found in the west of Scotland, this piece looked like a chewed-up piece of red gum from the outside. From the inside, it has beautiful red banding and that gorgeous crystal pocket. It would make beautiful jewellery but will always be a lovely, show-stopping specimen.
