This piece of Scottish Quartz came from a lowlands river. It is a little remarkable in that it has this deep red and orange tinge to it. IT's obvioulsy a form of iron staining. However, as we polished it up, we noticed that it has some sparkle in it, too. It's morel ikely to be mica specks that pyrite specks, but pyrite specks would explain the colour of the quartz. Inclusions are fun. We polished this through four stages in the rock tumbler then put it in soap for a one day cycle. It came out really nicely. Now we just need to find some rose coloured quartz...
