We make reasonably frequent trips to the Scottish Highlands where we collect loose material, don't dig anything, and walk around in the hills looking for nice rocks. This nice rock came from a trip in April 2026. We actually ran out of this material for the first time at the start of the year, so this is one of the biggest bits we have left to list from that overnight trip.
I slept in the car on a hill to bring this home 😅
This Scottish Highlands smoky quartz boulder weighs a little over 1.1kgs. It has a glorious coating of mica rich schist on it in that shiny golden green phylitey colour. It's a beautiful big chunk. The dark parts look like mica rather than dark quartz so be aware of that. Though there are nice grey patches under there.
I don't think I'd cut this one. It's a specimen on its own.
