This piece came from a recently acquired small crystal collection. We think it is sandstone, although it could be a limestone. The dendrites are usually formed by manganese particles which leak into the stone over time. These form tree-like 'dendrites' that crystalise into these perfect patterns.

Dendritic patterns like these can form in many types of rock. We've heard tell that they are good for use in meditation.
