This lovely gneiss with garnets is a new addition to The Stone Circle's products. We only have a handful of pieces until we restock.
*We restocked since first listing this material*
These are almondine garnets in a deep red so dark it looks black. The garnets emerge from the earth inside the mica schist, where you can choose to pick them out or keep the specimen.
This piece came from Perthshire though we do have a few new locations to explore for this material, so watch this space.
This is a soft rock specimen, no more than 4 on the Mohs scale. We will wrap it extra tightly for you. It is also a heavy and chunky piece. It comes in at 494g on the scale which is about ten times the size of the previous pieces.
The mica is often chlorite, biotite, and occasionally muscovite.
