Mica Rich Gneiss with small garnets

This piece of gneiss is from the Perthshire area. Similar to the garnet schist, this material is less crystal filled but just as interesting. It has some interesting swirls of layers in it. Definitely a little quartz and lots of mica. The red tinge could be the eroded bodies of garnets? Could be iron but it seems the wrong colour.

Forgive me if this should be labelled schist rather than gneiss. I am still at the stage of working out the difference.
