Every so often we find these lovely pieces of chert when we are rockhounding. Some of it is red, some is the deep grey ish blue you get throughout Scotland. There are more pieces than shown in the photograph I just need to dig them out of the pile.

Chert/flint is almost the same as chalcedony. It is similar in depth and colour. It was traditionally used by the ancient tribes and clans of Britain to fashion tools like axes and arrowheads. If you wish to use it for the same then we are not responsible!

This lot is for 500g. It was mostly found in Ayrshire in 2021, but there are a few 2020 pieces, too.
