Once in a great while we come across this lovely rutilated quartz in Perthshire. We rarely take trips north due to limitations like the weather, petrol money, and mercury retrograde, but we do make a few trips a year.

This Scottish rutile on quartz is a 400g chunk of wholesomeness. Usually our rutile samples are fairly small, but this one is heftier. There is evidence of rutile needles running through the chunk. The photos don't do justice.

This is also a nice red tinted quartz for those crystal collectors looking for a mineral specimen that is a little different. Could you cab it as lapidary material to make it into gemstones? Yes. We don't have that kind of equipment...
