These chunks of smoky quartz come from the north, above the Highland boundary. There is a defined line which marks the start of the Highlands here, once you get north of it the makeup of the rocks shifts entirely. It goes from old sandstone and volcanic material to mica schist, gneiss, and this quartz.
Collected in our March 2025 trip, this piece of Scottish smokey quartz has mica schist on it. The rock has been brought home, washed, and is ready to be rehomed.
