This gorgeous sparkly rock is mainly quartz but there are mixed minerals in there too, such as a patch of iron oxide in orange on the back.
This chunk of quartz is also technically a geode. I can see two crystalline caves in it. There is a lot going on here.
This Scottish quartz rock was collected on our last trip up the Southern Uplands way in June 2026. It has been given a nice bath and is ready for its new home.
