This piece of orange quartz combines Scottish smoky quartz with orange iron oxides and mica flakes giving it that rich colour.
I found this in the same place I collect smoky quartz up in Perthshire. The area has both iron pyrite and muscovite, giving the quartz this interesting colour.
This was collected in April and has been through four grit stars in the rock tumbler.
