We do self collect our Scottish Agate but this is not one of ours. We also buy Scottish rocks like this one from other rock hunters, usually those further north or down South.
This rock came from a rock hound up north who sold a bunch of pre sliced Agate to Kat a while back. Maybe October 2025? And this banded Agate came in with that batch.
This came from Angus. Not sure where but if I had to make an educated guess I would say somewhere around Lunan. We only get up there once or twice a year so buying them in helps us maintain a bit of diversity in our Scottish Agate specimens, otherwise our Agate would all be from Ayrshire and Fife!
The rock itself is very pretty. It has delicate outer banding in purple, pink, and grey. At least one of those bands is a very steely looking grey water line. Which is just a way of saying it has an awesome horizontal line on it, similar to an onyx band.
This Scottish Agate weighs 46g. It has been through a months worth of polishing in the rock tumbler and has taken a pretty shine.
