We make bi-annual to quarterly trips to the mountains up north to collect quartz for you lovely lot. Some of it (most of it) we sell as rough specimens but there are pieces that we tumble. This is a piece of Scottish mountain quartz that would normally be classed as white to smoky. However, the yellow which has affected the colouring makes it more of a smoky citrine than a smoky quartz.
This is not a true citrine. true citrine is very rare. This is the Scottish version. Old time Scots used to collect and polish these to sell to passing traders. They would say they were citrine because back then nobody knew the difference between iron affected quartz and quartz cooked inside a mountain. Now we know better but the rocks are still as pretty.
