This is a hefty chunk of galena in a host rock which features a blend of quartz and calcites. This lump of rock has the light grey to blue coloured galena ore throughout it. On the opposite side, the rock has a glittering cluster of orange quartz crystals. The rock is heavy with the ore, and will be blue and shimmery on the inside if you crack it open.

We recommend that you do not cut or grind galena. You should use it as a display mineral specimen and not a healing crystal. If you are going to knock it in half, please do it wet and with the appropriate safety gear. If you hurt yourself it is not our fault. But galena is quite brittle and reasonably soft so it shouldn't create too many issues. The key with this one is to never breathe in the dust - but the same could be said for any rock.

This is the biggest piece of galena we have in stock. It is all natural, having been cleaned with hot soapy water and nought else. It came from down in Dumfries and Galloway.
