This 33g banded calcite Crystal might have been sold as Onyx originally. This is very common in the Crystal industry. Onyx is an Agate form and a gates are chalcedony rather than calcite. But that linear striped pattern is still the same.
Calcite is really difficult to polish in the rock tumbler. I know because I have tried it. It erodes away to nothing. This banded calcite Tumblestone is actually quite rare.
You might see this material carved into shapes for decoration. I have a banded calcite dinosaur here also waiting to be listed.
This rock has been washed in hot soapy water with a (new) toothbrush. It was air dried using sage to complete the Crystal cleansing. It is now ready for its new home.
Also this tock was a donation. For every donated rock we sell we donate a portion to charity by way of a big glass jar. Once it's full it will go to Scottish environmental charities.
