This preloved crystal came from an old crystal collection we very recently picked up online. It is our fourth one now? This one was largely tumblestones because that is what we have been running short of this whole time.
This piece of black jasper almost got lumped in with the polished pieces of obsidian that are in there. I was vaguly unsure about what they were so I did a scratch test. To be fair, the other ones could even be basalt as they were scratched by the quartz. The quartz did not scratch this one, though. That puts it in the Mohs hardness range of 6.5-7, the same as the quartz. And since jasper is quartz and basalt is a little less hard, about 6.3 in the UK, the educated guess is black jasper.
This material is great for having that wet-look, shiny black stone for decor or crystal healing. Black jasper is harder than the other black stones, making it more durable. In terms of crystal healing meaning, black jasper has the saturate, soak, and convert function that all black crystals are said to have. Dispel negativity with it or just carry iti n your pocket to have something to fidget with through the day.
The absolute best part of black jasper is that it will just keep getting shinier the more you fidget with it. Stick it in your handbag for the ultimate black glass look... eventually.
