This is a piece of the famous snowflake obsidian we hope you all have heard about before. We don't know all that much about it other than that it came as part of an old crystal collection which we just bought at auction in the beginning of 2026.

This mineral specimen is obsidian, of the snowflake variety, thus called because of the bursts of light grey all over it. The material essentially looks like it is covered in snowflakes. These are caused by impurities in the volcanic glass as the obsidian is formed. If you are unfamiliar with obsidian and why it is not technically a crystal, you will be interested to know it forms when lava or magma touches water and it cools too quickly.

This piece of obsidian has been washed and air dried, given a smoke bath in my nag champa infused living room, and is ready for its new home.
