This piece of rutilated quartz was an amazing find. We are not sure if it is fair to call it rutilated quartz. It is more like rutile on quartz. The crystals take on that spray formation, all radiating out from a central point. Similar to wavelite or sagenite spray in agate shapes.

We were impressed.

This piece comes from the Southern Scottish Highlands, where quartz is constantly eroded out from the mountains due to our consistently damp weather. Take a trip north in the rain and you will be lucky to avoid flooding. When there is only one road out and it is impassable, that's when you worry.

So far so good. We did lose the shelf under the car in a deep one once but we are sure it is fine.
