This is one of the most fantastic finds we have had so far in selling second-hand mineral specimens. We were given this batch as a donation from a fan of the store (who now has serious store credit as a thank you!) They included a hand written note to tell me what they were.
 
The note says that thes were hand collected by an Etsy seller, presumably from the UK as the quality of the jet is tremendous. You do find this in other countries but Whitby is the shiniest, or so they say.
 
Jet is technically a mineral. It is a crystalisation of the old tree roots which existed when Britain had a sub-tropical climate. Trees like the extinct lepidodenrons and the no-longer-endemic to Britain Monkey Puzzle tree.  Whitby jet is more of a fossil than it is a rock, and more of a mineral than it is a crystal. It's splendid stuff.
 
Not going to lie: I have wanted to own a piece of Whitby Jet for years now. It so rarely comes up in the crystal forums. So I am stoked that there are a few pieces here to place into the shop.
 
What do we mean by tool? This Whitby Jet "tool" is naturally shaped to look like one of the flat-bottomed gua sha tools. We recommend you use this as a face massager and for facial congestion relief. You will not find a more natural gua sha tool than this. It is perfect for the jawline. 
 
Make sure you clean it and dry it after use in case your skincare products affect the integrity of the mineral.
