This chunk of Scottish jasper stone is all-naturla. The colours are brilliant when it is dry, but even more gorgeous when you wet it. This material tumbles to a lovely shine, so will make a good purchase for someone who wants to polish it up and sell it on. Asides from making a good lapidary material for your own tumblestones or for slicing up, this rough jasper is so striking that I actually thought it was an iron stone when I picked it up.
It is iron oxides which give Scottish jasper its striking colour so naturally I made that connection. I then had to scratch test it to be sure, but it is too hard for ironstone. It will make a beautiful piece of jewellery if propoerly prepared.
This is Scottish Jasper found in the Clyde Valley.
