Labradorite
Labradorite is easily one of our favourite igneous rocks here at TSC. There are few very limited Scottish locations where you might find it - so few that we have to buy it in from other countries to tumble from rough. We also sell secondhand labradorite crystals and mineral specimens.
Labradorite: The Stuff of Legends
Inuit legend says that when the Gods made the world, they had a lot of colours left over. They trapped the extra colours inside rocks and strew these rocks along the coastline in the far north.
One day, a wandering Inuit warrior came across the stones and noticed the colours all trapped within them. He gave a mighty strike with his spear and shattered the stones. The colours broke free and fled up into the sky where they became the Northern Lights.
Crystal lovers will notice a similarity between the indigenous legends surrounding Labradorite and the indigenous legends surrounding opal, which is where the gods trapped the colours on the opposite side of the world.
Labradorite in Crystal Healing
Crystal healers use labradorite to represent the third eye, crown chakra, and spiritual atunement.
Said to boost the immune system and help with PMS, labradorite is frequently used in crystal healing. We would always recommend that you see a doctor for physical ailments. However, if your malady is of the soul and you fancy your hand at astral travel, then labradorite is the stone you want to meditate with.
