This piece of Scottish quartz crystal came from a larger mossy agate with a quartz pocket centre. We sliced the agate and polished different sections of it over the course of a couple of years. when it got down to the heel piece which was too small to cut, we cracked it with the hammer. Most of it went into the rock tumbler but for some reason I kept this piece back. And now it is here.
This rock came originally from the hills down in Ayrshire. You find terrific mossy agate there. We did collect this a long time ago, maybe 2021. It was one of Fox's finds. It has a slight red and green tinge to the outer shell, which is a chalcedony skin.
This is one of our Scottish rocks which is self-collected. It comes as we find it, except that we clean it. Otherwise it is as it was on the hillside.
