This piece of serpentine came from one of our recent trips to Ayrshire. We recognised it at once and got it straight into the rock tumbler when we got home. Now freshly emerged with a pretty polish, this rock feaatures a band of green serpentine which resembles a snake skin running through the centre. On either end of the rock there is a sort of cementation of quartz bits, perhaps even a breccia.

This is an unusal find for us because Katriona has only just began to recognise serpentine when she sees it. Stay tuned for more!
