This desert rose is an interesting formation because the three of them have formed joined together. You can tell that they formed that way rather than were glued post-growth because they are all growing inton one another. This is such an interesting piece.
This desert rose gypsum crystal made its way to the Stone Circle through an old crystal collection which we bought from an auction house online. It has been washed with soapy water and a toothbrush and quickly dried off.
These crystals form in the desert in little globes with a rose-petal pattern. They form when mineral rich water evaporates, leaving behind barite and gypsum rich sediments. The sediments cluster together and eventually you get these.
