This cool Scottish agate has a large central quartz pocket with peachy pink bands where the skin meets the quartz. The chalcedony has whorls leaning towards eye agate.

The chalcedony skin is red and yellow, leaning towards Jasper but still potentially carnelian. I would have to slice it thinly to find out how opaque it is to find out.

This rock was collected this year during a Spring trip down to South Ayrshire. After collection it was brought home, washed, and pug into the rock tumbler.

It takes about six weeks to polish the quartz but the chalcedony comes out beautifully. Actually, given the shine on the skin, I would judge it more carnelian than Jasper. Jasper shines more like quartz.
