This really cool pebble should really just be quartz. Where the quartz erupts from the schist in the Highlands, the quartz can become ingrained with this green coloured Chlorite mineral. Iron oxides are also present in the formation of these quartz crystals.
The penble came from Ayrshire, where it must have washed down over the years. The pebble took a reasonable polish. It will certainly become smoother and shinier the more it is handled.
