This is one of the many, many crystal lovehearts which we picked up recently in an online auction. The seller was parting with thier beloved love heart crystal collection and we were happy to take it, just in time for Valentine''s Day.

Strawberry quartz is a commercial name, of course, and it is given to the fiery red quartz crystals that can be found anywhere where there is a high presence of iron in the soil. In fact, we have just started picking up the red quartz from our own stretch of river to polish up and sell on - and all thanks to this stone drawing our attention to the market for quartz with iron oxides. Another iron oxide might have turned this rock crystal yellow, instead, and the trade name would have been golden healer quartz.
 
This is a big heart which will make a lovely, fairly unique gift. I have not come across one of these before but the material itself is not rare.
