I saw this piece on an auction site and I had to have it. It was the last one or I would have ordered more of them. It is so rare that I come across rough mineral specimens at prices cheap enough to resell them while still avoiding the wholesalers. It's a tricky market out there.
I believe this pink tourmaline in quartz mineral specimen was shipped up north from England but obviously it didn't come from an English mine. Places where it is commonly mined include Brazil, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Madagascar.
This tourmaline crystal is visible in a quartz type host rock. It has that nice shape to it that makes it obviously tourmaline. It has a lovely light pink colour to it. Although they do sometimes call pink tourmaline rubellite, this does not display any flouresence the way a ruby would.
This is gorgeous material. I am going to price it so that I have it in my collection for a while. I like looking at it.
Crystal healers use pink tourmaline for the sense of preternatural calm it exudes. This is a good example of this, should you believe in the metaphysical. If not? It is still a very cool rock.
