We did actually eventually find a source for Scottish manganese. We even got as far as finding dendrites to go with them. This is a small but lovely example of how manganese forms tree patterns sometimes, and when it is outlined in black against the background of a softer coloured stone such as sandstone, it really stands out.
This small piece of dendritic sandstone came from Dumfriess and Galloway in Scotland. It was collected about three months ago in the beginning of summer 2025. There may be a finding video of this or one of its sisters on Tiktok. You can also shop for manganese dendrites from Scotland in our Etsy shop.
